Emulators for Cosmological Inference from Galaxy Surveys: Beyond Standard Statistics
Speaker
Kate Storey-Fisher New York University (USA)
Abstract
There is untapped cosmological information in the small-scale clustering of galaxies. As part of the Aemulus Project, we construct Gaussian process emulators of summary statistics at small scales to infer the cosmological parameters, as well as halo occupation distribution and assembly bias parameters. We find that the density-marked correlation function and the underdensity probability function improve our constraints when combined with standard two-point statistics. We present our findings on the power of these statistics for inference, focusing on their usefulness for constraining HOD and assembly bias parameters due to the information they provide about the local environment.
