Abstract
The assumption that our Universe is statistically isotropic has been under a lot of debate in recent times. Minkowski Tensors (MTs) carry information on the shapes and alignment of structures in a field, and are naturally suited for detection of violation of statistical isotropy. I will discuss the applications of MTs to the Planck CMB data as a probe for statistical isotropy, and also to dark matter simulations to measure the effect of redshift space distortion. We found that the Planck 2018 CMB temperature and $E$-mode polarization maps are consistent with statistical isotropy. We are currently working on the estimation of the redshift space distortion parameter from dark matter simulations, and look forward to applying the same to galaxy data in the near future.
