Cosmology with Peculiar Velocities: Present and Future
Speaker
Khaled Said
University of Queensland (Australia)
Abstract
Measurement of peculiar velocities by combining redshifts and distance indicators is a unique way to test theories of gravity at low redshift. During the first half of the talk, I will show how we constrain the growth rate of structure by comparing observed Fundamental Plane peculiar velocities from 6dFGS and SDSS surveys with predicted velocities and densities from the 2M++ redshift survey. I will also show a comparison between our recent measurement and other low and high redshift probes. During the second half I will talk about future peculiar velocity surveys such as WALLABY and DESI
